Facts about DNA and DNA
Computing
Human Genome Project Information - Completed in 2003, the Human
Genome Project (HGP) was a 13-year project coordinated by the U.S.
Department of Energy and the National Institutes of Health. Its task was to
identify all the approximately 20,000-25,000 genes in human DNA, determine
the sequences of the 3 billion chemical base pairs that make up human DNA
and more.
What is
DNA Fingerprinting - This topic
is especially pertinent in today's society because of the rising use of
DNA fingerprinting as evidence in court cases.
DNA
Computing - DNA computing is a form of computing which uses DNA,
biochemistry and molecular biology, instead of the traditional silicon-based
computer technologies. DNA computing, or, more generally, molecular
computing, is a fast developing interdisciplinary area. Research and
development in this area concerns theory, experiments and applications of
DNA computing.
